The Mahoning Valley Economic Development Corporation is a partnership of public and private interests focused on the revitalization and diversification of the Mahoning Valley in Northeastern Ohio.
Established in 1979, MVEDC is the principal private, NON-PROFIT economic development corporation for the Mahoning Valley. We have assisted more than 1,500 companies which have retained or added more than 16,500 jobs. We serve companies in Mahoning, Trumbull, Ashtabula, Columbiana, Geauga and Portage counties.Industrial Parks
We also own and are developers of two industrial parks - the Warren
Commerce Park in Warren, Ohio and the Youngstown Commerce Park
in North Jackson, Ohio. In the 410 acres comprising these two i
ndustrial
parks there are
29 companies that
occupy over 1,077,000 square feet of space and employ over 1200
people MVEDC entered the railroad business in 1985, when Conrail
abandoned the Youngstown & Austintown Industrial Railroad. We
formed the Economic
Development Rail
Corporation (EDRC) which purchased the 2.75 mile industrial
railroad and preserved 250 jobs.
Economic Development Rail II Corporation (EDRIIC) was formed in 1994 and purchased the CSX Railroad's North Warren Lead. This
3 mile industrial railroad serves industries in Warren. More recently, EDRIIC purchased 3.9 miles of Conrail's Freedom Secondary Railroad
in Warren and connected the two Warren roads together to provide improved rail service.
Business Assistance
Our "Assistance to Business" Program finances day care centers and provides technical procurement for various federal government agencies plus technical assistance for companies and lenders.
We're located within 250 miles of Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Detroit, Cincinnati and Toledo, and within 500 miles of New York, Chicago, Louisville, Nashville, Norfolk, Philadelphia, Indianapolis and Washington, DC. And just beyond 500 miles are Atlanta and St. Louis.
