Hello everyone, Robbie here. I know it’s been a while but don’t worry I’m still alive! I was inspired to write today to share some of the best ways I’ve been using artificial intelligence tools to help me see if money on my day-to-day grind. This will be short and sweet and hopefully help a few of you out. Here we go.
When people I chat to typically think of using AI to save money on finances, most likely the suggestion is to ask ChatGPT for a simple budget. While this is useful, it’s a rather boring and derivative request that only really starts to scratch at the surface of what AI can do for you financially this year. Here are my unconventional ideas on how to use AI to save money this year (tested and confirmed by yours truly):
Use AI to negotiate with your bills
Companies like insurance providers, internet providers, and phone carriers will expect you to call them and ask for a negotiation on your bills. Instead, use the AI chatbots that these companies use and provide them with information on your bill, your length of service with the company, and the rate another provider charges for the same service. Ask the AI for a script or email that you can use to negotiate with the company. Many people who use this tactic once a year with all of their bills can reduce the cost of their subscriptions by 10-20%.
Audit your bank statement for subscription creep
Use an AI with code-execution to analyze a CSV of your bank transactions for a year to identify recurring charges and their cost per subscriber. This will reveal subscriptions you didn’t even know about that you’ve been paying for, such as a £4.99 app that you forgot to cancel eleven months ago.
Fridge-to-recipe photo dumps
Use an AI to take a photo of your fridge to identify meals you can cook that use ingredients you already own. This will reduce food waste, one of the largest costs people have silently in their household. By doing this every week instead of automatically going to the supermarket for groceries, you can save money.
Fine-print contract review before you sign anything
Check any contract you’re about to renew by pasting it into an AI. Ask the AI about auto-renewal, exit clauses, and price increases. Companies rely on nobody reading the fine print of their contracts. A five-minute review with an AI could save you hundreds of dollars a year.
Draft your own refund and warranty claims
AIs are unusually good at writing complaint letters that result in refunds. If something you purchased is late or faulty, even if it’s past the “easy” return window, or if you’re entitled to flight delay compensation under specific regulations, just tell the AI about it, and it will write you a letter that will get you a refund. Most people don’t claim it because they think it’s a hassle to do so.
Use it as a salary and freelance-rate coach
Instead of asking “how do I ask for a raise,” ask your AI about your achievements, the market rate for your role, and the objections your manager might raise to your request. Role-play the request several times until you’re ready to make it in person. Use it to determine your freelance rates the same way, feeding it your skills and what others in your field charge.
Robbie’s real trick:
None of these techniques work because the AI knows some secret discount rate. Instead, the AI removes the friction associated with claiming the money that rightfully belongs to you to save!
Good luck with the tips guys, shoot me an email to let you me know if any of them worked for you: admin@mvedc.com
